To celebrate International Women’s Day, the Guild of Service, a volunteer organization dedicated to promoting the empowerment of women and supporting conflict-affected women and children, and the War Widow Association organize the Inter-religious Peace Prayers event, held in New Delhi, India each year. For the past several years, the monks of Karmapa International Buddhist Institute (KIBI) have represented Buddhism at this wonderful event. This year, the monks were accompanied by a small delegation of students, faculty and volunteers from KIBI. The program was held at Gandhi Smriti, a museum dedicated to the life of Mahatma Gandhi, located where Gandhi lived and was assassinated. The participants experienced the many ways of expressing prayers for peace and equanimity throughout the world’s major religions, including Hinduism, Islam, Christianity, Sufism, Baha’i and others, and had the opportunity to visit this beautiful, historic location.
