“As it is said, one of the signs of awakening unfolding for a Bodhisattva is that curiosity is always there. So, there is nothing that a Bodhisattva wouldn’t learn.”
–His Holiness the 17th Gyalwa Karmapa Thaye Dorje
KIBI has been conducting courses on Buddhist philosophy, meditation and language for more than three decades. Following in this line, we are now offering a three-year study programme, which began today. The programme is organized as a cycle of annual three-week courses that can be joined each year, irrespective of having participated in the previous parts or not. During this programme, students will have the opportunity to gain deeper insight into Tibetan Buddhism under the guidance of fully trained Tibetan scholars. This time, the programme is again headed by two highly learned scholars, namely our senior khenpos Khenpo Tsering Samdrub and Khenpo Lobsang.
Today’s programme began with the lighting of butter lamps by Ven. Nendo Tenam Rinpoche, and all khenpos, sanghas, and everyone assembled reciting the Verses of the Eight Noble Auspicious Ones with aspiration prayers. Ven. Khenpo Tsering Samdrub la then introduced the course, focusing on the importance of learning and individually utilising or applying this knowledge to develop compassion and kindness.
KIBI’s academic course coordinator, Ms. Ava la, then introduced our administration staff to the students and then proceeded to lead a tour through all departments and premises of KIBI. The programme drew to a conclusion on a convivial note with the entire gathering partaking in refreshment in the cafeteria.
We extend our very best wishes to all the students, newcomers and seasoned alike, and pray that this sharing in dharma may help to enlighten all sentient beings.
