On October 11th 2016, Khenpo Chödrak Thenpel Rinpoche was giving a talk during his brief stay at KIBI. The topic of his lecture was the importance of Buddhist studies.
Rinpoche explained how it had been the wish of the 16th Karmapa to create a place like KIBI where Westerners could come and study the Buddhadharma. He knew how crucial it was to foreigners having a place like this to build a solid foundation of knowledge. What is taught here will then show (us) the right path and eventually lead to the wanted result. Rinpoche acknowledged how life had been much more simple for Tibetans with very few daily distractions making it easier to practice quite unlike our Western lifestyle. It is therefore important that we dedicate time to study and meditate even with our busy schedules if we want to obtain the fruit of the practice.
