The theme of this summit is ‘The Role of Buddha Dharma in Strengthening Asia’.
The ABS aims to bring together Sangha leaders, scholars, experts, and practitioners from various Buddhist tradition across Asia to foster dialogue, promote understanding and address contemporary challenges faced by the Buddhist community.
Today, Bharat’s President Smt. Draupadi Murmu ji chaired Asia’s first Buddhist summit. In her address, the President emphasised that this recognition not only honours India’s linguistic heritage, but also brings crucial support to preserve and revitalize our ancient languages.
The Hon’ble Minister of Culture and Tourism, Mr. Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, and the Hon’ble Union Minister Mr. Shri Kiren Rijiju also ornamented the session. In representation of Karmapa International Buddhist Institute, General Secretary Ven. Skarma Ishey Jungnes and Secretary Rev. Thinley Namgyal participated in this auspicious event.
