There are many reasons to study at K.I.B.I., including our unique set of highly-qualified teachers from both traditional monastic and modern academic backgrounds. K.I.B.I.’s exceptional faculty is one the most important points to consider in assessing the quality of education our students receive. It is a truly unique opportunity!
During the upcoming academic year, K.I.B.I.’s Diploma (and Bachelor) students will have the opportunity to study with a range of carefully selected teachers. Professor Sempa Dorje, Khenpo Lobsang, and Khenpo Tsering Samdup will be the core teachers for the philosophy and religion classes. The History and Tibetan Studies classes will be taught in a modern academic style by Dr. Tina Draszczyk, Dr. Rolf Scheuermann, and Cécile Ducher. Classical Tibetan classes will be taught by Inka Wolf.
A special highlight of the 2016/17 academic year will be the short intensive seminars taught by Dr. Tina Draszczyk, Dr. Rolf Scheuermann and Cécile Ducher. These seminars will be both inspiring and useful to K.I.B.I.’s regular students and also offer a special opportunity for K.I.B.I.’s guest students too.
Dr. Rolf Scheuermann (University of Erlangen-Nuremberg) will teach a seminar on the Four Dharmas of Gampopa for two weeks from 12th September to 23rd September 2016.
Cécile Ducher (Ph.D. candidate, Ecole Pratique des Hautes Etudes, Paris) will teach for one week, from 5th to 11th October 2016. This intensive week long seminar will be part of the History of Buddhism in Tibet course, which will be conducted throughout the semester via Skype.
Dr. Tina Draszczyk (University of Vienna) will teach an intensive seminar for three weeks leading up to the annual Karmapa Public Course in March, from 20th February to 10th March 2017.
Admissions for the Diploma Course starting in September 2016 are still open! Whether you wish to deepen your understanding of the Dharma to enhance your personal practice or wish to receive a high quality undergraduate education to serve as a base for higher studies, K.I.B.I. offers a unique education. For those who cannot commit to the intensity or length of the full Diploma program, we offer the opportunity to study as a guest student.
